Frequently Asked Questions
What happened to "Full Groom" and "Tidy Groom"? Can I still book those?
Almost every appointment I was booking was a Full Groom, and often times when clients booked a Tidy Groom they ended up meaning a Full Groom. So I thought, why not simplify things and make only one type of appointment that can be customized to your liking instead!
What payment methods do you take?
E-transfers to hairdog613@gmail.com are preferred but cash, debit, and credit are also accepted.
Will you groom my matted dog?
Absolutely, but there will be a dematting fee, which varies depends on severity, and you will be expected to take steps to prevent matting in the future. The groomer will be happy to provide you with resources and tricks.
Why do you charge a dematting fee?
Partly to offset the cost of equipment sharpening/replacement, as matted shavedowns must be done prior to bathing (because water tightens mats) which is very damaging to grooming tools. But also to discourage owners from letting their dog's coat get matted. Matted coats are painful and dangerous as they can hide injuries, detritus, and pests. The shavedown process is also uncomfortable, painful, and stressful for the dog, furthering any grooming anxiety dogs may already have.
Will you groom my aggressive dog?
Possibly, on a trial basis. Aggressive dogs are required to arrive with a basket muzzle that fits them properly. Please discuss with the groomer the details of the aggression beforehand; some "problem" dogs are not as bad as their owners think, while others will be better suited to a salon with more than one pair of hands.
Can I stay during my dog's groom?
Owners are required to leave during their dog's appointment, as their presence typically increase the dog's anxiety.
How long are appointments?
Grooming appointments can take as little as one hour but as long as 3-4 hours depending on the coat type and grooming needs. The groomer can usually give you a better idea of the time it will take once they've evaluated the dog and coat on the day of your appointment. Please note however that we are dealing with live animals who are being asked to stay still for an abnormal (to them) amount of time, and that this groomer does not rush dogs for the sake of a rushed owner. Grooming takes the time it takes.
Where can I park?
You may park in the home's driveway if it is available, otherwise there is ample visitor parking just past the house. Please do not park on the street as it is a fire route and the only (very narrow) way to get in and out of the neighbourhood.
Why can't I call instead of texting or emailing?
Due to the groomer's auditory disorder which makes phone calls difficult and unclear, clients are required to communicate via text or email. Thanks for understanding!
